“Who Framed Roger Rabbit” earned three well deserved Oscars for this animation/live action film, becoming an instant classic. The story revolves around Roger (Charles Fleischer as Roger Rabbit), his wife (Kathleen Turner as Jessica Rabbit), a murder and a detective who hates toons.

The movie has the feel of the Warner Bros tongue-in-cheek adult humor from the Bugs Bunny cartoons while using the style of detective movies from the thirties. Bob Hoskins is an excellent actor and terrific in his role as Eddie Valiant. You can imagine how good he needs to be in this film acting to the empty space that is later filled with animation. The technical difficulty involved in combining live action and animation can be seen on the extras included in the dvd of the movie. The animation is impressive, the characters real and animated are larger than life and fully realized. The vocal talent of Charles Fleischer and Kathleen Turner are especially appealing. Famous Jessica Rabbit line from the film: “I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way”. Some of the humor may be appreciated more by adults. Older children will enjoy the animation and story, however it may be too much for very young children.

1998. Directed by Robert Zemeckis. Starring Bob Hoskins, Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Cassidy and the voice talent of Charles Fleischer, Kathleen Turner and Lou Hirsch.

Rating: ★★★★½
