Movie Review: Be Kind Rewind
I liked this movie and always enjoy watching Jack Black. I think “Be Kind Rewind” would have been a better movie with a better written screenplay. I’d say there was too much improv time on screen and not enough script for the actors to work with. The storyline was clever in itself, but certainly there was little plausibility in some of the concepts happening in the film so this has to be taken into account. The pacing of the film needed to pick up and some of this would have been taken care of with better lines for the actors. The fun was in watching the relationship between Mos Def and Jack Black and the great versions of movies they re-created. If you look at this as a fun film with a little bit of a message you’ll enjoy it.
This is not a fall down funny film but it does has some sillyness and sweetness apparent between the characters and how they relate. Good comic performances by Jack Black and Mos Def make this film one you might want to see just for the fun of it.

2008. Written and directed by Michel Gondry. Starring Jack Black, Mos Def, Danny Glover, Mia Farrow and Melonie Diaz.
