“Tropic Thunder” is another clever film created by Ben Stiller. I have a feeling I will need to see this films a few times to get all the comic gems scattered throughout the movie. It was pretty hilarious, a brilliant sarcastic take on actors and the movie industry and war movies in general. The cast is excellent with standout performances by Ben Stiller as the has been actor Tugg Speedman, Robert Downey, Jr. as an aussie actor playing an african american soldier and Jack Black playing a drugged out movie star. Tom Cruise gives one of his better performances as a creepy studio executive.

There’s plenty of crass goofy comedy, moments of “I can’t believe they did that” and more. The script provides us with a smart comedy filled with a rare mix of laugh out loud comedy, cutting parody and action sequences rolled into one.

This movie got good reviews overall for its well written script and acting and the direction is terrific. Its definitely a movie you will want to put on your list.
