Movie Review: A Christmas Story

Ralphie desperately wants a Red Ryder 200-shot Carbine Action Range Model BB rifle for Christmas and is determined to convince Santa he deserves this perfect gift. Ralphie faces obstacle after obstacle to get his favorite BB gun. Ralphie’s parents are against him owning such a dangerous toy, warning he’ll put out someone’s eye or injure himself, but Ralphie will not listen to reason. Ralphie writes his school paper on his beloved toy only to get an average grade and a warning from the teacher that he’ll hurt himself. Ralphie has to face Santa at the mall and even Santa Claus is unsympathetic to his pleas.

This classic Christmas movie follows a young boy and his family’s old fashioned Christmas is one that will entertain children and parents alike. Although this is not one of my all time favorite Christmas movies, it is endearing, funny, and will bring back nostalgic memories of those growing up in the 1940′s. If you are looking for classic Christmas movies during the holidays A Christmas Story should be on your list.

1983. Directed by Bob Clark. Starring Peter Billingsley, Melinda Dillon and Darren McGavin.
