Movie Review: Blood Simple
A Texas bar-owner is controlling and jealous when it comes to his younger wife and suspects she is having an affair with his bartender Ray. Julian Marty hires sleezy private detective Loren Visser to check up on his wife. When the detective gets too close to the truth, a series of events spirals dangerously out of control.
Being a major fan of the Coen brothers I rented their first feature film and the Coen touch was very apparent even in the beginning of their careers. The film’s cast is strong, the script is full of twists and turns, and there are some great camera shots captured along the way. A young Frances McDormand is fun to watch, and character actor M. Emmet Walsh steals the movie with an excellent performance as the unrepentant private detective.
If you haven’t rented Blood Simple and are a fan of the Coen brothers, you should see it. Blood Simple is a solid thriller that will keep you on edge and entertained as well.
